Buceo en Lanzarote: «La Catedral»
- «La catedral» de Lanzarote
«La catedral» es una de las inmersiones cercanas al muelle de playa chica y que se puede hacer partiendo desde el mismo muelle sin necesidad de recurrir a embarcación. La inmersión no engloba mas dificultad que la profundidad de la misma, llegando a tocar los 36 metros, por lo que es recomendable que el nivel de los buceadores sea al menos el de avanzado o dos estrellas.
Casi todos los puntos de buceo que se precien de dicho nombre tienen una inmersión llamada «La catedral». A veces es una pequeña cueva en la que podemos observar contraluces, o una serie de cañones, pero sin duda, «La catedral» de Lanzarote es, junto con la de Gran Canaria, para mi la más impresionante de las que llevan ese nombre, hablando de inmersiones en España. En este caso la Catedrál es una gran bóveda bajo el mismo veril de playa chica con una cúpula de entrada que supera los 14 metros de altura y en la que una vez dentro podemos disfrutar de unos impresionantes contraluces.
Bucear en Lanzarote: La inmersion en «La Catedral»
[box] La inmersión comienza en el muelle de playa chica. Tras echarnos al agua, bien por las escaleras o dando un paso de gigante desde el muelle, nos dirigimos hacia el este siguiendo en pararelo al roquero de playa chica, dejándolo a nuestra izquierda. Este recorrido podemos hacerlo en superficie o ya directamente en inmersión, siendo este el mas recomendable, pero siempre teniendo en cuenta nuestro consumo y que en esta inmersión superaremos los 35m de cota y es facil entrar en deco a la que te demores un poco en la cueva.
Tras dejarlo atrás, en unos metros nos encontramos con un escalón en el veril sobre los 22 metros en el que apareceremos casi encima de una barca hundida. La visibilidad, como suele ser corriente en la zona, rondará entre los 20 y los 30 metros, proporcionando unos paisajes espectaculares. Seguimos por esa lengua de arena que baja, dejando la barca atrás y a nuestra derecha, atentos por si vemos aparecer a «Felix», mero de grandes porporciones que suele andar por esta zona. Tras llegar al fondo de la lengua de arena y rodear la pared a nuestra izquierda, aparecerá ante nosotros la imponente entrada de «La catedral», una enorme bóveda de unos 15 metros de alto y mas de 20 de ancho.
En la gruta, además de los espectaculares contraluces, podremos ver coral negro, nudibranquios, rascacios, meros, abades, las inevitables doncellas y si tenemos suerte, algun chucho andará rondando por dentro de la cueva. Aqui no es que sea aconsejable sino casí invitable tener un buen foco para poder escudriñar bien dentro de la gruta. Sin quitar el ojo al consumo y al tiempo de fondo, abandonamos la cueva y subimos por el veril deshaciendo el camino ya de vuelta a superficie, por un arenal plagado de hileras de burbujas proveniente de filtraciones del aire que los buceadores dejamos en la cueva, y observando a nuestro alrededor ya que es relativamente fácil encontrarnos con angelotes semienterrados en la arena en la subida por la ladera hacia el muelle.
Si nuestro consumo nos lo permite, llegaremos hasta el muelle de playa chica haciendo la parada de seguridad de camino, y si vamos un poco mas justos, haremos la parada y ascenderemos, recorriendo el resto del camino en superficie. [/box] Una inmersión sencilla pero relativamente profunda, con gran variedad de vida y unos paisajes que sin duda recordarás siempre, en la que combinar pared, arenal y sitios para «bichear» a nuestro antojo.
