Bucear en Canarias: Los pecios de Mogán, la inmersión en el «Cermona II»
En el suroeste de la isla se encuentra el Puerto de Mogan, la extensión costera del pueblo de Mogán y conocido como la «Venecia» de Canarias. A la salida de la bocana del puerto deportivo, a apenas 150 metros en dirección sudoeste, se encuentra una de las inmersiones mas conocidas de Gran Canaria, la conocida como los «pecios de Mogán», los restos de dos barcos hundidos,conservados en condiciones muy distintas y que hacen que esta inmersión tenga dos partes muy diferenciadas.
Los pecios de Mogán es una inmersión compuesta por los restos de dos buques muy distintos. El primero, el «Cermona II», fue hundido por el gobierno insular en el año 2002 para servir de arrecife natural y de atractivo turístico para los buceadores, y sobre todo para el submaríno turístico que tiene su base en el puerto de Mogán, al que proporciona una curiosa vista y que es la estrella de su recorrido por las aguas cercanas al puerto.
La inmersión: buceo en los pecios de Mogán
[box] La inmersión es sumamente sencilla, con una profundidad máxima de 22 metros y con corrientes suaves o moderadas. Aunque la parte mas espectacular desde el punto de vista de los pecios es el «Cermona II», la inmersión cuenta con dos barcos hundidos, unidos por una maroma y separados por unos 70 u 80 metros, aunque el segundo pecio, el llamado «barco viejo» y de nombre «Alegranza» se halla mucho mas destrozado por los temporales.
La inmersión en el Cermona II, el primero de los pecios, nos lleva a los restos de un pesquero de algo mas de 30 metros perfectamente conservado. El pecio se encuentra tumbado sobre el costado de estribor en un ángulo aproximado de 60 grados. Todas sus partes son perfectamente visitables y no tiene mas dificultad que mantener la precuación habitual de llevar guantes al bucear en pecios, y tratar de evitar cortes y enganchones, pudiendo distinguir en su interior parte de la maquinaria y una pequeña cocina. Por lo demás, el exterior es bastante mas llamativo, conservandose el puente y el castillo de proa en perfecto estado, al ser su casco de acero.
Aunque el Cermona II es muy fotogénico y es posible ver bastante vida, siguiendo la soga llegamos al barco viejo, mucho mas destrozado y difícilmente reconocible, pero donde sin embargo la fauna se ha adueñado de los restos, y seguro que encontraremos algún banco de roncadores, sargos, salemas, pez flauta y es frecuente encontrar entre los restos morenas, sepias, pulpos y con suerte algun chucho merodeando por la zona.

Los pecios de Mogan son una de las mejores inmersiones del sur de la isla, combinando la fotogenia de los barcos hundidos, sus historias y su misterio, con la enorme cantidad de vida del barco viejo. Apta para todos, con buena visibilidad y sn grandes corrientes como norma general, no queda mas que disfrutarla.
