Buceo en Ibiza: la bota de Es Vedrá

La zona de Es Vedrá, en el sur de Ibiza, nos brinda una serie de inmersiones en un agua cristalína y con mucha vida. A unos cientos de metros de «Los cañones de Es Vedranell», encontramos esta inmersión, La bota de Es Vedrá, una montaña sumergida de forma casi rectangular a poca distancia de la isla de Es Vedrá, y que es un lugar peligroso para la navegación puesto que sube desde los 50 metros de profundidad hasta apenas un metro, lo que impide la formación de oleaje que avise, y ha sido la causa de varios accidentes marítimos.

La Inmersión en la bota de Es Vedrá

La inmersión en La bota es muy sencilla y únicamente tenemos que tener precución por dos motivos: el consumo de aire, ya que la inmersión podemos hacerla entre los 40 y los 10 metros de profundidad a nuestra elección, y las fuertes corrientes que se levantan a menudo, al estar casi en mar abierto, de las que podremos resguardarnos pegándonos a la roca.

La inmersión no tiene pérdida, ya que simplemente se trata de picar por la roca hacia la profundidad máxima de la inmersión, unos 30 metros, y a partir de ahí ir ascendiendo poco a poco rodeando la roca en dirección contraria a las agujas del reloj, aunque podemos cambiar el rumbo dependiendo de las corrientes. La Bota se levanta sobre un fondo de arena perfectamente visible que no suele ofrecer gran interés, con paredes prácticamente verticales entre los 70 y 100 grados de inclinación. Si bién en las paredes podemos encontrar gran variedad de estrellas de mar, ofiuras o flabelinas, el verdadero espectáculo de la bota transcurre en el azul, ya que debido a la corriente, los bancos de peces son los protagonistas de la inmersión, llegándose a cruzar y mezclar unos con otros formando un verdadero espectáculo.

Salpas, mojarras, obladas, castañuelas, meros, abades, barracudas y serviolas, la diversidad de especies que se divisan y su número es enorme, aunque también es un espectáculo ver a los bancos de salpas y de freddies comer sobre las rocas en la parte superior perfectamente iluminados por el sol, creando bonitos destellos y contraluces, y si tenemos suerte, cerca de la superficie, podremos ver también rápidas serviolas y atunes, así que no olvidemos levantar la cabeza.  Y para los de ojo fino, dicen que últimamente por la zona comienzan a verse de nuevo caballitos de mar…Ahí lo dejo.

La inmersión termina cómodamente sobre la plataforma haciendo tranquilamente la parada de seguridad, agarrado a ella en caso de corriente de ser necesario, o aprovechando los últimos instantes para bichear a poca profundidad perfectamente iluminado el fondo por los rayos del sol.
