La inmersión en Yucab Reef no es una inmersión, sino mas bien un tranquilo paseo submarino. Yucab es un punto de inmersión situado en Cozumel, en el canal existente entre la isla y la península del Yucatán. Sin embargo, a diferencia de las inmersiones en Jardines de Palancar, Santa Rosa Wall o el Paso del Cedral, aqui no realizaremos la inmersión en el vertice de la pared del arrecife, sino sobre una barra de coral que se extiende durante centenares de metros entre dos arenales planos.
Si en las inmersiones en la pared tenemos que estar pendientes de la profundidad y las corrientes, en el arrecife de Yucab no hay mas que dejarse llevar y disfrutar…

[box] La inmersión es muy sencilla y apta para todos los niveles. Transcurrirá sobre una barra de coral situada a lo largo de la meseta arenosa que rodea la isla de Cozumel, con una profundidad variable entre los 18 y los 15 metros todo el rato. La inmersión es de tipo caribeño: nos sumergiremos sobre la barra y nos dejaremos arrastrar por una corriente de sur a norte, entre suave y moderada, hasta que lleguemos a reserva, donde ascenderemos tras realizar la parada de seguridad y la lancha vendrá a por nosotros.

Como ya hemos dicho, la inmersión transcurre en una barra de coral donde encontraremos numerosos montículos de entre 1 y 2 metros de altitud, plagados de coral y esponjas, donde debido a la corriente suele haber gran cantidad de vida y una magnificia visibilidad de 30 metros o más. en los corales, además de la vida propia de arrecifes tropicales, como peces cirujano, loros, cofre, las inevitables tortugas y demás especies habituales, podremos encontrar numerosos nudibranquios y en las oquedades que se forman entre la arena y los montículos de coral, grupos de 3 y 4 langostas de considerable tamaño… Asímismo es aconsejable no perder de vista el veril, ni a la derecha, pero sobre todo a la izquierda, hacia el azul, ya que podremos observar el paso a nuestro lado de meros, barracuda del caribe, aguila de mar, Rayas, y con un poco de suerte, algún tiburon nodriza que se haya despistado un poco….[/box]

Una inmersión muy tranquila, pero que debido a la gran cantidad de vida, al disfrute de la corriente y a una visibilidad casi ilimitada, viendo todo el rato el reflejo del sol sobre la arena blanca, hacen de Yucab una inmersión dificil de olvidar.
