Buceo en Canarias: El cabrón
«El cabrón» es posiblemente la inmersión con más fama de toda la isla de Gran canaria. Situada en el municipio de Agüimes, cerca de Arinaga, en el sureste de la isla, la inmersión transcurre en una plataforma rocosa situada entre la Punta de la Sal y el Risco verde, que crea un veril lleno de vida que baja hasta cotas de unos 25 metros. Su entrada por una pequeña poza desde la orilla hace que esta inmersión, junto con la del muelle de Sardina, sea extremadamente popular entre los buzos autóctonos, al no tener que depender de barca ni de centros de buceo para realizarla.
Esta zona, obtiene su nombre al parecer de un navegante portugués apellidado Cabrón, que en el siglo XVI atracó en la playa que hoy lleva su nombre, a refugio de vientos y mareas, en una incursión para hacer esclavos entre los poblados guanches de la zona, aunque fracasó estrepitosamente y fue rotundamente rechazado por los lugareños. A día de hoy es Area Protegida y pdoemos encontrar en muy reducido espacio mas de 150 especies distintas, lo que da idea de la biodiversidad de la zona.
La inmersión en el Cabrón
[box] La inmersión suele ser de las denominadas de infantería, y tiene una zona con amplio aparcamiento aunque en los últimos años han sido frecuentes los periodos de robos en coches y furgonetas, por lo que si vais por vuestra cuenta no es mala idea dejar a alguien vigilando junto a los medios de transporte. El acceso desde la zona de parking hasta la poza de entrada se realiza a pie sobre una superficie de roca, generalmente ya con el equipo puesto y las aletas en la mano, por lo que es necesario extremar las precuaciones ante un resbalon o mal paso.
A la poza entramos por paso de gigante e inmediatamente descendemos hasta los 3 metros, saliendo del tubo y siguiendo la pared a nuestra derecha. Hacia el sur es la ruta más popular, aunque también se puede seguir dejando la pared a nuestra izquierda hacia la punta de la sal, alcanzando en esta ruta cotas de profundidad mayores hasta llegar a la gorgonia amarilla situada a los 33 metros, momento marcado para dar la vuelta según la mayoría, en una inmersión con menos vída que la ruta clásica, pero debido a su mayor exposición a la corriente, suele ser mas grande.
En la «ruta clásica», alcanzaremos rápidamente los 15 o 20 metros sobre fondo arenoso rodeando la plataforma y dejándola a nuestra izquierda, roedando una saliente seguido de una pequeña gruta, estanto atentos tanto a la pared como al azul, ya que es frecuente ver pasar banco de bicudas y medregales. Rápidamente doblaremos el segundo saliente y entraremos al área de las grutas donde un gran banco de roncadores nos suele dar la bienvenida. Tan habituados están a los buceadores que es perfectamentente posible situarse en medio del banco experimentando la sensación de estar totalmente rodeado de peces sin ver mas allá salvo hacia arriba o hacia el suelo.
En la pared del veril podemos ver todo tipo de vida, desde mojarras, salemas, viejas, verrugatos, abades y gallitos hasta grandes chuchos, morenas, congrios cigalas y diminutos caballitos de mar, o la llamativa por su color amarillo y afilados dientes Morena «pico de pato». Es una inmersión en la que con un poco de atención, realmente podemos encontrar casi cualquier cosa.
Pasada la zona de los roncadores y las cuevas, es hora de comporbar el manómetro. Si nuestro consumo nos lo permite, podemos seguir por el borde del veril durante otro rato. En el momento en que el manómetro marque que es hora de comenzar el camino de vuelta, subiremos por la pared y llegaremos a la parte superior de la plataforma rocosa que forma el veril por donde realizaremos la vuelta a una cota entre 13 y 10 metros, puediendo seguir curioseando entre las rocas y algas, haciendo nuestra parada de seguridad en las inmediaciones del tubo por donde hemos entrado, con cuidad de no estorbar la entrada o la salida de otros buceadores por el estrecho paso..

[box type=»warning»] Debido a su acceso a través de una poza desde la roca directamente, conviene tener precaución de mirar como evolucionará el estado del mar, ya que hay que tener en cuenta que la entrada es posible hacerla facilmente con un pequeño oleaje, pero que si se incremente solo un poco, puede entorpecer seriamente la salida de la poza a través de las rocas debido a los vaivenes de las olas rompiendo.[/box]
